Many of the projects currently being developed around our changing bay will provide opportunities for existing businesses to flourish and new businesses to start.

The towns' regeneration plans all focus on developments that will support business in the area. Already, there are projects under way in Irvine Bay that are creating opportunities for local businesses and attracting new businesses to open here.

• The regeneration of Kilwinning Main Street has provided opportunities for local people to get involved as trainees, which has led to new jobs.
• The construction of The Ayrshire is likely to create around 250 jobs.
• The redevelopment of Ardrossan North Shore is estimated to create over 400 new jobs.
• The refurbishment of The Bridgegate in Irvine will stimulate the economy of the town.

Projects such as the Stevenston Business Centre and Annickbank Business Park are creating new business accommodation.

The refurbishment of old buildings in Ardrossan and Saltcoats, such as the former station building in Saltcoats and 93 Princes Street in Ardrossan, is also attracting new businesses to open their doors here.

If we can bring new businesses into the area with sustainable jobs for local people, that's when we will really see regeneration taking root. Local businesses have an important part to play too and I want to see support that allows them to grow.
