A new coastal park is one of the key strategies for bringing a new tide of people and economic activity to Irvine Bay. The idea behind the park is to maximise the potential of our splendid coastline and attract visitors, residents and investment into the area.
All of the assets that used to bring people to this area are still there; the beaches, historic harbours, the best sailing waters in Europe, top class golf courses, the scenery and the sunsets. Creating a coastal park is vital to our strategy of attracting people back to the water – and back to the five towns.
The coastal park framework is being put in place to provide vital connections between the regeneration projects along the 14km of of the bay. Development plans for the towns themselves are anchored firmly within the concept.
The five towns will be linked directly with the coastal park, where walkways, cycle paths and a chain of beacons and landmarks will beckon people back to the water.
