Ideas that build the future

At Irvine Bay we are interested in what local people think. We are working hard at our community engagement programme, listening closely to the views that are expressed. The town centres

The community engagement process in each area highlighted key themes which are affecting local people and businesses as well as many specific points relating to particular developments. Consultation with local people on the regeneration of the five towns took place early in 2008. The top concern for everyone was to see new jobs coming into the area and this was a common thread that ran through the whole process.  In addition, important goals for urban renewal were identified for each of the five towns.

Irvine Harbour

A major development is planned at Irvine Harbour, creating a new village with housing and commercial facilities by the waterfront.  In March 2009 a consultation event ran over two days with displays and a model of the proposals on show. Further consultation took place in August 2009 in advance of the planning application being submitted. Watch a short film on some of the feedback we received.

Ardrossan Northshore

A massive project is under way to revitalise the area around Ardrossan Harbour. The Ardrossan North Shore development will involve an extension to the marina, new housing and many commercial opportunities.  Early in 2011 a community consultation event provided local people with the opportunity to see developing plans and comment on them.

Irvine Town Centre

Also in Irvine, the Bridgegate area of the town is being redeveloped to create an attractive and contemporary shopping area in the heart of the town. In October 2011 a "pop-up shop" in the centre Irvine was the setting for community consultation, with over 500 local people taking part.

The Ayrshire

A new golf course with hotel and holiday homes is being developed on the edge of Irvine. A public consultation event about The Ayrshire was held in January 2012 in advance of plans being submitted.
