Ideas that build the future

The community engagement process in each area has highlighted key themes which are affecting local people and businesses. The top concern for everyone is to see new jobs coming into the area and this was a common thread that ran through the whole process. In addition important goals for urban renewal were identified for each of the five towns.

 Ardrossan

• Bringing vitality and vibrancy back to the heart of the town
• Improving the recreational facilities on the promenade and beach

• Ensuring the harbour and marina developments contribute to the wider town centre

Saltcoats

• Improving the retail environment and experience
• Facilitating high quality development on sites
• Improving the sense of arrival and overall appearance of the town

Stevenston

• Creating an attractive environment at the Cross
• Consolidating the open space and recreational facilities
• Maximising opportunities at the foreshore

Kilwinning

• Focussing attention on the town centre and Main Street in particular
• Improving access to key facilities, amenities and services
• Creating a vision for the future of Kilwinning which builds upon its rich history and built heritage, including an archaeological dig

Irvine

• Attracting good quality employment and investment
• Protecting and restoring historic buildings, particularly around the High Street, and identifying new uses
• Overcoming Irvine’s image problem to realise its significant tourism potential
