Big on the Beach

Big on the Beach 2010

Young people of Irvine Bay enjoyed Big on the Beach this week – a festival of fun, creativity and exercise – all on Ardrossan’s South Beach.

Irvine Bay Regeneration Company combined with North Ayrshire Council and Young Scot to organise the event.

Activities included a gyroscope, pod casts, film and music workshops, Brazilian Dance, archery, Starlite disco, beach games, beauty tasters, West African Drumming, climbing wall, Japanese cartoon drawing and mega beasts workshops

Other events at the festival included demonstrations such as Y-dance, Zoolab, and the Ranger Service.

On Friday evening, local bands performed as voted for by the young people of North Ayrshire themselves, courtesy of Young Scot Overload.

Patrick Wiggins, Chief Executive of Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, said: “The Council and Young Scot put on a fantastic range of activities, which we were delighted to fund. Regeneration is about more than improving the physical infrastructure of an area, it is about engaging with and enthusing the people who live in that area. This event promotes Irvine Bay as a fantastic area in which to live and to play, and were happy to see so many young people enjoying themselves.”
