Kilwinning regeneration is YOUR business

Pauline Cassidy, Goody 2 Shoes speaks at Irvine Bay talks business event

Irvine Bay Regeneration Company is invited local businesses to learn more about the regeneration underway in Kilwinning and the wider Irvine Bay area – and how local firms are already benefiting.

The event, which takes place at Taylors Hotel, Kilwinning, on Wednesday 10th November from 6pm to 7pm (open from 5.30pm), is the second in a series of three 'Irvine Bay talks business' events. The guest speaker is Pauline Cassidy of Goody 2 Shoes.

The three events are each being held at different times of the day and in three different towns to give busy business people the best possible choice.

Patrick Wiggins, Chief Executive of Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, said: “It has been a very exciting time for Kilwinning, with the £2.75 million refurbishment of the Main Street now complete.

“The street was officially opened by Alex Neil MSP only a couple of weeks ago, and we also saw the first Farmers’ Market – which Irvine Bay also instigated. The new look street has attracted 8 new shops, as well as the Co-op.

“The Farmer’s Market was reported as being the most successful in 2 ½ years with cash machines running out of money and one trader reporting to have sold out in 45 minutes!

“We want this event to celebrate the success, but also to hand the street back. We want to encourage local people and traders to take their town centre to the next level, working together to maintain the momentum. It is great that we have a successful and committed local businesswoman in Pauline Cassidy to speak to this theme.”

At the briefings, attendees also get the chance to hear from Brian Keating, Director of ‘The Ayrshire’ golf complex proposal and how it will benefit the area. The events will include a question and answer session, and networking opportunities.

The first of the three events took place at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine when almost 50 local businesses turned out. The events are expected to last around 1 hour, and teas, coffees and refreshments will be served afterwards.

The third and final event details are as follows:

  • Thursday 2 December
    Michael Lynch Centre, Ardrossan
    12.30pm to 1.30pm (open from 12noon)
Guest speaker: Joe McLauchlin, Pheonix Art
