Artist paints bright picture for Ardrossan businesses

Joe McLaughlin, Phoenix Art

Around 50 businesses attended an event in Ardrossan on 2 December to hear of the opportunities the work of Irvine Bay Regeneration Company is opening up.

In particular, the meeting heard from artist Joe McLaughlin, who talked about his new gallery Phoenix Art, which he’s opened in the refurbished former Jack Miller hotel.

He told the meeting he was attracted to Ardrossan because of the “fabulous” building with big windows, lots of natural light in an amazing location by the sea. He also said he saw Ardrossan as an up and coming area with all of the other projects going on all around.

Mr McLaughlin told the meeting he picked Ardrossan over Glasgow, and had to date enjoyed a very successful opening night, and that signs are good for an exciting future.

The event took place at the Michael Lynch Centre in Ardrossan.

As well as hearing from Mr McLaughlin, Irvine Bay Chief Executive Patrick Wiggins gave an update on various projects, focusing on those in the 3 towns such as Ardrossan North Shore; and developer Brian Keating talked about the benefits The Ayrshire golf complex will bring to the wider Irvine Bay area.
