Ardrossan marina plans interest residents

Ardrossan Marina operates at 95% capacity

Ardrossan residents and businesses turned out in force to find out more about plans to extend the town’s marina.

More than 70 people turned up to an event at the Michael Lynch Centre held by Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, which is currently preparing a planning application for an extension to the existing marina.

Proposals include a new breakwater, facilities building, car park and boat storage at the inner dock and Montgomerie Pier. It is intended to submit a planning application in February.

Patrick Wiggins, Chief Executive of Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, said: “It was very gratifying to see that so many people were interested enough in the plan to want to learn more about it, and to feed in their own views.”

Topics discussed included the scale of the development, parking, and access for both pedestrians and traffic.
