Irvine Bay : building for the future

Around 300 people attended the APM in 2010

People attending Irvine Bay Regeneration Company’s Annual Public Meeting this month (March) are being offered a chance to gain much more detailed information on some of the key work being undertaken.

And they will also get the chance to enjoy the work of local schoolchildren who have taken part in a variety of educational projects linked with the regeneration work.

As well as the core business of the meeting, which is to be held at St Matthews Academy, Jack’s Road, Saltcoats, on Thursday, March 24th at 7pm, there will also be an opportunity to talk to key staff at a number of in-depth ‘information areas’.

These will cover the work being done in the following areas: town centres; business infrastructure; the coast; and the major Ardrossan North Shore and quayside development.

This will be the first time the event has been held in the evening, and the first time it has been held outside Irvine. At the event, local people and businesses get an opportunity to hear and see first-hand the work that has taken place during the year, and plans for the year ahead.

In addition, there will be a special education area where work undertaken in local schools will be on show. Pupils representing 6 projects will display information, models and drawings and will be on hand to talk about what they have learned.

Chief Executive Patrick Wiggins said: “We hope as many people as possible take the opportunity to come along and hear about the work undertaken during the past year, and plans for the year to come.

“The four information areas will allow people an opportunity to see and hear of some of our key work in even greater detail, and to ask questions and talk to us.

“In addition, holding it in Saltcoats and in the evening will also allow some people who may have found it difficult to attend during the working day to come along.”
