Wish you were here…

You are invited to put a message in a bottle at Irvine Bay Regeneration Company’s event “Wish you were here…” on Wednesday 7 May, 10am until 4pm in Dockhead Street, Saltcoats.

Irvine Bay Regeneration Company has appointed The Lighthouse to help create coastal beacons – a series of dynamic landmarks along the Irvine Bay coast – and needs your help. You are encouraged to submit stories of the past and present, ideas, hopes and fears, all of which will influence the final strategy.

Each beacon will be different, from highly acclaimed sculpture or works of art, to temporary shelters, beach huts and cafes with a difference, or even events. The beacons should provide a variety of points of interest, and they may change over time, with some being permanent, others temporary.

The beacons should create excitement about the coast and attract visitors down to the water’s edge

The first of the series is already being developed and will link in with the new sea defences at Saltcoats Quay – a project named “gems among the rocks”.

Building on this, Irvine Bay Regeneration Company now wants to gather information to help shape the other proposed beacons. Have your say!
