Lyric Theatre, Ardrossan

This important Ardrossan landmark building has been refurbished to create flats and a retail unit. The facade of the Lyric has been restored to provide a dramatic frontage for the new building development.

After lying empty for years, the building has been brought back to life by Hovepark Properties, with substantial backing from Irvine Bay Regeneration Company.

The “B” Listed Building, opened in 1914, can now enjoy a new lease of life as high quality shops and flats, bringing life back to a wonderful building. There is now a retail unit on the ground floor, with a combination of one and two bedroomed flats.

Work has involved restoring the frontage on Princes Street and Hill Street to incorporate a new ground floor shop and two first floor flats. The retail unit has now opened as Garfield's wine and tapas bar. The rear section of the old structure was demolished to make way for six high-quality new build flats with an exterior design in keeping with the retained frontage.

The regeneration company provided gap-funding of £350,000 to preserve the frontage of the building. This section saw the creation of a shop and two one-bedroom flats. The building to the rear has been demolished, and the new building has created six two-bedroom flats.
