Project status: In development

Education programme

Working with pupils in our local schools provides an effective way of involving communities in the regeneration of Irvine Bay. We are developing resources and projects that will mean that young people can have real influence on the regeneration process. Our education projects mean that students are able to participate in the regeneration of the bay – and learn at the same time!

Regeneration is not just about improving the buildings in this area of North Ayrshire, it’s about creating jobs and improving peoples' lives, so education is a fundamental way of bringing about this kind of change.

Our team of education experts are working with local teachers and young people to bring the benefits of regeneration right into the classroom. Children and young people will be able to get involved in planning local regeneration projects and seeing them develop. Their knowledge of regeneration and their involvement in the process of transforming Irivne Bay will mean they are able to benefit from new opportunities in the area as it is gradually changed.

Some of the projects have attracted interest from educationalists in Scotland as examples of good practice.

A growing number of education projects are  under way.

The project gave Scott the opportunity to direct his own learning: to go beyond the classroom and try to find answers to practical problems.
