Pupils from Kilwinning Academy were invited to design an anti-litter campaign for the town in an innovative initiative led by Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, and supported by ‘Promoting Kilwinning’ and North Ayrshire Council’s Cleansing Department.
The school ran a competition to create an effective campaign to use during Kilwinning’s Clean-Up Week. The first-year groups were organised entirely by the pupils and the project has encouraged creativity, communication and teamwork.
The winning presentation provided the blueprint for an anti-litter campaign for Kilwinning that includes banners, posters and music.
North Ayrshire Council supported the launch and provided the pupils with litter sticks and clothes covers. ‘Keep Scotland Beautiful’ provided their litter pack – ponchos, stickers, litter sticks, etc.
