Work experience, Kilwinning Academy

Young people in Kilwinning benefitted from work experience opportunities on the project to refurbish Kilwinning Main Street.

The work experience opportunities were available with Land Engineering, the contracted developers. The project ran from April 2009 to August 2010.

Work experience opportunties included working with the civil engineers on site, marketing and admin roles at the office in Fenwick and opportunities for budding mechanics in the workshop.

This work experience was additional to the normal S3 and S4 work experience and provided more intensive and longer specialist placements for pupils who are pursuing work and careers in these particular areas.

The refurbishment of the Main Street will be completed in autumn 2010
