The former Jack Miller's Hotel building at 78 Princes Street in Ardrossan has been redeveloped to provide new, high quality accommodation. The refurbished building was completed in autumn 2010 and has been let. The building is now open as an art gallery and artists' studio space.
Funding was secured for this project from the Scottish Government's Town Centre Regeneration Fund. It signals an important step forward in the regeneration of Ardrossan town centre. Successful completion of the project means both the transformation of a prominent eyesore and the provision of around 2,700 sq ft of good quality office or retail space in central Ardrossan.
The building is now the home of Phoenix Art, with a commercial gallery on the ground floor and artists' studio space on the first floor, where the large windows and the sea views make this an ideal creative hub.
The building is located in the town centre close to Ardrossan Town and South Beach railway stations and bus routes.
Contractors started on site late October 2009. The building was completed late summer 2010 and the gallery opened in November 2010. The building is now fully occupied.
