The derelict Harbour Inn has now been demolished and the area will be landscaped as we explore opportunities to bring this exciting venture to life. The site has a prominent location on the main thoroughfare to the Ardrossan - Arran Ferry.
In September 2009 a grant was awarded from the Scottish Government's Town Centre Regeneration Fund to be used to bring the building back into use in partnership with a private investor. However, an extensive structural survey found the building to be unsafe and it has now been demolished.
The location of the Harbour Inn represents an excellent opportunity for a new venture or business relocation and the redevelopment will contribute to urban regeneration in the area. The site is suitable for a variety of uses such as retail, restaurant or bar, office or residential.
In the meantime the site has become the home of a giant razor blade! A new artwork the site, the work of a local community project. Created to promote the cutting edge regeneration work of Irvine Bay, the artwork was developed by a collaborative venture between STF Metalworks and STF Carfin Landscape Services. The project provided training and skills development for six young people from STF Training's Get Ready for Work and Community Job Fund programmes.
The redevelopment of this prominent site will contribute to urban regeneration in the area.
