Past, present and future at Ardrossan North Shore

Research was on the cards for three classes from St Peter’s Primary in Ardrossan in a project connected with the redevelopment of Ardrossan North Shore.

Our project included

• Exploring the history of employment in Ardrossan Harbour
• Learning more about the decontamination process under way at the former oil refinery site
• Discovering more about the future development of the site, including business and retails units and the public spaces

More than 90 pupils from P5, P6 and P7 classes delved into different aspects of the development. 

The P7 class also had a visit from the Technical Director of EnviroCentre, the company carrying out the decontamination work on the site.

The project involved the pupils in the various elements of the development and raised their awareness of the impact of the development on the town.
