Pupils from S1 at Kilwinning Academy and P7 at local primary schools worked together on a challenge to create new marketing and branding for the 2011 Kilwinning Community Archaeological Dig which will attract other young people.
The challenge was designed to involve pupils in researching the town’s heritage including Kilwinning Abbey and the work of the Kilwinning Community Archaeology Project which is currently taking place in the town. The Kilwinning dig is supported by Irvine Bay a way of promoting regeneration in the town.
The challenge involved historical research as well as designing a logo and a poster for the 2011 project.
The project was designed as an integral part of the curriculum, covering expressive arts, numeracy, technology, literacy and health & wellbeing. The challenge provided an opportunity to deliver key elements of a Curriculum for Excellence: presentation skills, effective communication, collaborative learning, teamwork and confidence as well as responsible citizenship.
An exhibition of the pupil's design work was shared on 16th June.
