European Karate Championships

North Ayrshire will be hosting the 4th WUKF European Karate Championships for Senior and Veterans at the Magnum Leisure Centre in Irvine from 1 -3 June 2012. 

Irvine Bay are main sponsors for the event, along with Thorne Travel from Kilwinning.  

This is a great achievement for North Ayrshire to have won the right to hold this event. Over 600 competitors from all over Europe will compete throughout the weekend. The event will bring great recognition for the area, attracting over 1000 European visitors  and will boost both tourism and business revenues. 

Thorne Events in Kilwinning are the organisers of this event and will be working alongside North Ayrshire Council, the local schools and both the Scottish Karate Association and the World Union of Karate-Do Federations to bring this event to the local area. 

The Event begins on Friday 1 June at 9am at the Magnum and will run from 9am – 5pm each day over over the weekend. Find out more about the event on the WUKF Karate website.

Tickets cost £10 per adult per day and £8 per child per day and can be purchased from the Thorne Travel and Events website. 

On Sunday 3rd June there will be a farewell party for the competitors. This will take the form of a concert in the grounds of Adamton House, Monkton. tickets will be available for sale, so look out for more information about this event. 

Other events in the WUKF Calendar 2012 will be held in Delhi (Asia games), Uruguay (Pan American), with the World Championships taking place in Bucharest Romania.
