The past year has seen significant progress on key flagship projects – such as The Ayrshire golf complex and the development of Irvine Harbour. While these multi-million pound projects will take time to come to fruition, they represent transformation for the area on a very significant scale.
Substantial immediate change is also taking place, through projects including Kilwinning Main Street, the refurbishment of town centre buildings in Ardrossan and Saltcoats, and new-build business centres in Stevenston and at Annickbank, Irvine.
This short film presents just a snapshot of what's been happening in Irvine Bay.
Baroness Margaret Ford, Chair of Irvine Bay said: “We have chosen to concentrate our efforts where they will have the most impact and I believe this focused approach to seeking out projects that will make a real difference to our area is already having a positive effect.....
“Everything we do is part of our overall plan to restore the economy and create new jobs in the area.”
Throughout the last year we were very aware of the effects of the economic climate on local business and the possible impact on our plans for regeneration. Our focus has been to make plans for the upturn and to be ready to respond to opportunities – and we have already seen the effects of that positive approach.
2010 is an exciting time as the momentum builds.
