i live: a good place to live

This theme is about establishing Irvine Bay as a good place to live for all ages. The 9,000 homes planned over the next twenty years all need to contribute to the regeneration of the Irvine Bay area. We plan to focus the majority of the housing developments in the five town centres to help renew the centres as hubs of the community.

Already, one of the early action projects is the £60 million development on an 11 acre site at Irvine Harbourside to create a community of new homes and businesses on one of the most exciting waterfront locations in the UK. This project is expected to have an important impact on the regeneration of Irvine.

Another example is the recent joint venture to develop Ardrossan North Shore, extending the marina, creating leisure and retail services and building homes.

As renewal takes place in Irvine Bay, the strong sense of community which marks the area will continue to be important. We are supporting community activities which help to promote Irvine Bay as a place to live, including Big on the Beach, which took place again this summer.
