Priority industries

We are committed to creating an environment where new and existing businesses can thrive. It is vital for us to play to strengths we have in the area already in order to attact inward investment. It will also be important to tackle the legacy issues of vacant industrial land.

The priorities are to:

• Develop business centres, office pavilions and workshops, as well as marketing sites to companies looking for owner-occupied unit
• Create a strategy to encourage business growth and new business start-up in partnership with existing Scottish Enterprise activities
• Promote tourism and the visitor economy including training and support for restaurants, hotels and other leisure uses
• Consolidate industry onto the best industrial areas
• Support potential growth sectors, and areas of current strength, such as energetics, aero-engineering, back-office functions, recycling, and chemicals

These priorities all support the creation of new jobs in the area.
